Have had my toaster for some time now. Love it toasts perfect no matter what type of bread we use. Also I love cleaning it, the little tray perfect, Ok here come the BUT! I actually unplug mine and turn it upside dow and shake it and you should see the crumbs that come out, BUT if you look inside it is still crummy. Under the cage that holds the bread , how in heavens name can you get to that? Tried tooth brush other soft bristle brushes and still cannot get those crumbs out. Where is my Martha Stewart to help me clean?? Thanks for listening!! BUT help!

I purchased this very attractive toaster about 4 weeks ago and for the most part it works fine. It has many toasting options, the slots are nice and wide with an even guide to keep the toast centered and it toasts evenly. What's the problem? Well, a typical piece of bread is approx 12cm in height&width. The problem is the toast guide does not go down to the bottom of the toasting slot, leaving about 3 cm of the toast NOT toasted. To get an even toasting you have to toast half way, flip the bread around and toast the top 3 cm. This of course forces you to attend the whole process or you end up toasting the other 9cm to much. B&D, fix the slot holder depth and you will have the perfect toaster..

Works as advertized
I have been using this model toaster for a couple of years now and have not had a bit of trouble with it. It does everything it's supposed to do flaelessly. Having read the negative reviews I can conclude that the complaining users did not read the instruction manual and simply shoved bread in the slots and expected that the toaster knew what they wanted. The buttons for bread, bagles, frozen and reheat are there for a reason. Read the manual (available on this site if you don't have the original) and enjoy this toaster to its fullest.
I bought this for my sister who lives in a group home, she loves it, and everyone compliments her on it, they like the stylish red color! I never thought a toaster would be such a hit!
This Toaster is affordable and works great
from Kingman, AZ, USA
This toaster takes up very little counter space and is affordable, it does Bagels, waffles, pop-tarts, this toaster even has a reheat button to re-warm your food if someone take a while to get to the table..... Good product at an affordable price.
Not your mother's toaster!!
from Northern Indiana
I bought this toaster two months ago because of the review by Cooks Illustrated, which gave it the highest marks, and I couldn't be more happy. After years of replacing expensive (and cheap) toasters in search of the perfect slice of toast, I am now enjoying toast that has a uniform crunch on the outside and is soft on the inside! The brushed stainless exterior is not only attractive, but it doesn't get hot either. The reason it took me so long to write a review is because I've been too busy making and eating the best toast ever!

Great Features, doesn't toast fast enough
from San Jose, CA
Pro: Love the features, and not to large, good looking unit. Cons: The heat it produces to toast bread is not very good, takes to long and you have to run it through two cycles before you can get your bread nice and toasted. It's annoying, I'm thinking of switching it out for another brand.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Worked fine---for less than a year.

Had to manually hold down the toaster lever for varying lengths of time until the "electronics" kicked in.

One result I expect from a toaster is that the bread be toasted evenly on each side. This one toasts one side more than the other; I will be returning it and buying a different model or brand.
Okay for a cheap toaster, BUT....
I bought two of these toasters about a year ago, not expecting a great toaster because of the price. I did expect them to last a bit longer than they did. It did an okay job at first, then began burning my toast in spots and the guides bend and get stuck on the tracks. Don't waste your hard earned cash on this one, it doesn't hold up to regular use.
this is my second toaster in a year. Intertek
from Minneapolis, MN, United States
the first one I had only 3 months this one I have had for about 6 months. I live alone so it does not get had use. it will not keep the bread down so it will toast. Intertek 400422 is the # on the bottom. the color is red Have you had a lot of trouble with this one????? the first one I cut the cord and sent it back to your company. I paid the shipping cost . I do not a receipt after all this time is there any thing your co. does to help out a customer. I would like a e mail if any thing could be done. THANK YOU, betty
Can't turn setting low enough
from Newberry, MI
Can't turn the setting low enough not to burn toast.
A toaster is a toaster and it works fine. They put the plug in the front of the toaster instead of the back. You have this ugly plug in the front instead of it being in the back and hidden.
Buttons do nothing
Toasts bread OK and cancel button works but features like bagel, frozen and reheat do absolutely nothing except light up when pressed.

Worst toaster we've ever had!
from Inver Grove Heights, MN
This toaster is incapable of a consistent operation. The first slice on the number four setting is barely toasted, the next is almost burnt, and the third is somewhere in between. Adjusting the setting only frustrates the situation.
from Voorhees, NJ, United States
None of the elements heat evenly. Cord comes out of FRONT so useful cord is about 15". Numbers on selector are grey on grey. Can't see them.
Cheap, poor quality
from Niagara Falls, ON, Canada
Bought this about 4 years ago. The button won't stay down so it won't toast anymore. It also dropped crumbs on the counter. Not good quality.
from Louisville, KY, USA
my B&D toaster is only 3 months old and now only toasts on one side.
My mother, until the day she died had the same toaster for over 60 years. I had this one less than 6 months and now in order to toast you have to stand there and hold down the button. I will be purchasing a new toaster soon and it will not be this model or brand. It is unfortunate being a name brand company but who want to stand there and hold the button down when your eggs are buring...............
This is a bad design.

This toaster is very hard to get the temp. correct. Also it has the cord coming out of the front, very strange. The cord is very short also.
This is the worst toaster I have ever had in my life. Inexpensive yes quality 0 points. When you turn the dial to toast dark it comes out just barely toasted...when you do it a second time it burns it to a crisp. The bottom are just there you cannot tell if they are on or off .... DO NOT BUY it is a waste of money.
Worst toaster ever!
I have had problems ever since I first got it! It is a three-stooges act every time I use it! The lever won't stay down, then when the latch FINALLY catches and I walk away, it pops back up! It takes at least 5 tries and 10 minutes to get my bread toasted! It was the cheapest toaster, so that's why I bought it. Spend the extra money to get a toaster that actually works!
from Columbus, OH, USA
I had this toaster for less than 6 months and then the lifter inside the toaster kept getting caught because its cheap metal that kept bending and it would not come up so I would have to turn my toaster over anytime I had to get anything out of it. It was so frustrating. You get what you pay for, its cheap and cheaply made. I will never buy appliances from Black and Decker again.
very disgusted with your product
from Perkasie Pa.
Brought home this 2 slice toaster and plugged it in nothing happened could not press down switch and energize toaster. Am returning this piece of trash to where I bought it. You need to check your products before packing in the box as I removed the wrapping and product from box and it does not allow me to engage or press down the toaster lever it will not stay down or go on.I will look for another product from some other company.
toaster toasts only one side
the grill is only in the middle of the toaster and toasts only one side of the bread.... great for those people who only want one side of their bread toasted and the other side soft/mushy
from Surrey BC
Yes, it was inexpensive, so I should have paid more and bought a Cuisinart. The first 2 slices pop up 90% of the time, it also will stay in and burn. The second attempt at toasting doen't pop up at all, and the button to force it to pop doesn't work either, you have to flip the handle then try the button, sometimes it works, sometimes it does not. I have to watch it like a hawk, and if I'm busy cooking and forget end up with my smoke alarm going off and wasting bread. Terrible prodect, don't buy!

I just bought this 2 slice toaster; it looks good however, the first thing I noticed after opening the box is that; the bread crumb trays is missing from the box. This is bad experience for me since I have to return the appliance to the retailer and get it replaced. Thanks Disappointed Consumer
Broke within 2 months
This toaster broke so quickly. Sparks and the lever doesn't stay down on its own. Love the look of the toaster and the price was great, but the thing is worthless!
Junk. I hardly used it - Lever will not stay down
from Latrobe PA
I have had this toaster for about two years. I literally have maybe used it ten times before. My girlfriend moved in and she likes toast in the morning. She would comment that this toaster would take FOREVER to toast; often she would have to run the bread through two toasting cycles to get medium toast. After about three weeks, the lever on the toaster would not stay down at all, or would pop the toast back up after three seconds - very frustrating. Will throw this one away and replave with a T-Fal or Hamilton Beach. Do not buy unless you like to wait four to five minutes for toast!
