Best gift idea. I received my director's chair as a gift from my swim team a few years ago-it is one of the best team gifts I ever got. In the off season, I use the chair in my classroom. Other teachers compliment it all the time and it's where they sit when they enter. It's comfortable and can fit in almost any location. When the teachers in my school needed to come up with a gift idea for another teacher, we all chipped in to purchase him the same chair as mine. Don't hesitate to buy; it's awesome. One thing I wish I realized though...when we had the chair personalized, it was silk screened on when we just assumed the name would be embroidered. Not a huge deal, but something to consider.
Gold Medal Chairs offers the Original Director's Chair, an award winning design since 1892. Though their designs are often imitated, their quality is unmatched. For over a century, Gold Medal has been the only choice for quality casual seating. Their tradition of quality dates back to the end of the 19th Century, when they were honored at the World's Fair Columbian Exposition in Chicago for Excellence in Casual Furniture Design. Though the machinery used to manufacture their chairs has changed through the years, their commitment to quality has never wavered. Their chairs are strength tested past 600 lbs, more than double the weight imported chairs begin to fail. Mortise and tenon joinery, select grade American hardwoods, and quality hardware ensure years of trouble free use. They regularly receive requests for replacement fabric for chairs made in the early 20th century.
A Commitment to the Environment. All of their Directors Chairs are made from Appalachian Beech Hardwoods from managed forests, locally harvested and locally machined. Local sourcing of raw materials and domestic manufacturing reduces the carbon footprint from transportation. They use low-VOC finishes, applied through a submersion finishing process to reduce airborne finish particles. They capture all sawdust inside the building. How safe are their manufacturing and finishing processes? Their facility is directly across the street from the local hospital.
A Commitment to their Customers. They offer quick shipping times, affordable prices, a variety of finish and canvas colors, as well as the widest array of customization options in the industry. They listen to customer feedback to make continuous improvements to their products and to expand their product and service offerings. Feedback led to the addition of script bags; ThermoFilm and PhotoFilm customization options; powder coating on their hardware; and their Commercial Series Director's Chairs.
