Aquila Art Group

Based in Portland, Oregon, Aquila Art Group produces high-quality knobs and pulls using only materials produced in the USA. Glass pieces are cut by hand and assembled to create the basic structure of the pull. The stack of glass pieces is then heated to 1,450 degrees Fahrenheit before being allowed to gradually cool to room temperature, in a process that takes a full 24 hours to complete. More than 450 glass colors and textures are available, including single-colored knobs in every shade of the rainbow, as well as a wide range of bold patterns, metallic finishes, and even a glow-in-the-dark collection.

The process: Their knobs and pulls start as 20 inch by 35 inch sheet of glass. They then cut each piece of glass by hand on a cutting board. Then clean, glue and stack 2 or 3 pieces, place into a kiln, slowly superheated then slowly cooled. The glass is cleaned again and a standoff is glued on, then another 24 hours for the glue to set and cure.
