Motivation Machine. This machine definitely motivates me to take quilting to the next level. Many times quilters get the top sewn together only to leave it in a stack of uncompleted projects. Not 'sew' with this machine. Now I have incentive to finish the job. Lots of space to fit lap quilts, etc. It runs like a dream. Threading gets a little getting used to, but keep going..it is worth it.
My Go-To Machine. I have six machines..including a nice Pfaff that does it all and several older machines that are just fun to use. But I have noticed since purchasing this machine, that this is the one I find myself sitting in front of..like all the time! It is a workhorse. I do all my piecing and machine quilting on it and that about sums it up. I am thinking of buying a second one because if this one goes down, I really will be lost..but my friend who also owns one says it is made of " iron " and will never go down! She's right..they are so sturdy and yet portable..a wonderful machine..hope I never have to be without it!
PQ1500S. A real workhorse of a machine. So far excellent with the exception of a couple of things: wish the bobbin would have a sensor to tell you when you are almost out, thread breakage. We will be excited to actually do a quilt with it. We have been using it to piece and it does a fantastic job. Great 1/4" foot.
Thread skipping. I really like this machine for everything but free style. Bought it 2yr ago. As another review wrote, I've try everything for skipping stitches. Dif threads. Changed needle. Moved tension a little at a time. one thing that works is put your stitch at o and don't drop the feed dogs. super slider works or put an index card over the feet. The walking foot works great for straight line quilting or ditch sewing.
PQ1500S wants to: SEW! Thoroughly enjoy sewing with this machine. I can't say enough positive. The only "personal" point would be to move the needle UP switch to the "head" of the machine for quilting frames. I would also "prevent" the machine from sewing with the foot UP - what a rat's nest maker. The problem is strictly a user's problem and I've got it bad. I wish there was a "like" machine that included zig-zag - I'd buy it immediately! Love the Brother products - QUALITY
Love my Brother PQ1500s. I am having a love affair with my PQ1500s. I have had my fair share of sewing machines and they were all nice machines, did the job, what more could I ask for. I can't say that about my PQ1500, I am so in love with that machine. It is like we are one when I use it. So, so easy to thread. Stitches and tension are always perfect. And it is so solid, when I sew on it I feel like it can handle anything I throw at it. And when I do free motion quilting, it looks like someone who knows what they are doing did the quilting. I have only had the guts to try FMQ since I got my machine last month. I am so proud of myself when I look at what I have done. This machine may only do 1 stitch, but that stitch is beautiful. I haven't used my fancy machine since I got the PQ1500s. And I don't want to either. I could sew on my 1500 forever. And this is the very first object in my life that I said if there was a fire I would run in and get it. I have never said that about anything.. That is how much I love this machine.
Brother PQ 1500S. This is a great machine for quilting, but I knew it would be-I owned a PQ1500 for 10+ years and had to replace it for a bad motherboard. I hesitated buying another, but there is nothing else on the market that compares at this price range. This new one is just as good, and I am back to easy free motion quilting, and fast piecing. It's a great machine for anything requiring a straight stitch. It has the best features like push button thread cutter, automatic needle down, and pin feed. It comes with an array of great feet, including a walking foot, which cover any project you could imagine. My only regret is my old machine is still sitting here unusable because the board can't be replaced. Would love to fix it and pass it along to someone. Brother makes great sewing machines I know-I also have another Brother model.
I love this machine and I don't quilt. Like another reviewer, I bought this machine to use during times when my industrial walking foot machine is not an option. (And I might not have room for the industrial machine after we move.) The Brother 1500S handles very heavy loads, including pleather and ultra suede, which I use when making handbags. I like that it sews slowly and handles industrial size threads, too.
Love, Love Love. I have always sewn on a computerized sewing machine, purchased this machine to do long arm quilting. When I figured out the manual tension i am in love. It sews way better and quieter than my more expensive machine. I have only wanted to sew with this one and I have decided to look into more sewing machines from brother. SO looking for a sewing machine with only straight stitch then i highly recommend this one.
GreatMachine! I have had this machine for 6 months and would highly recommend. Wonderful straight stitch machine. I am able to piece while my embroidery machine is working. I also have a niece in fashion design and she has used this machine with great success. It stitches a wide variety of material.
