Johnny Pesky Autographed 2004 World Series Baseball w "We Did It"
- Includes MLB Hologram
Few men anywhere in the world can claim to have a pole named after
them, but Johnny Pesky can. Pesky was a popular and talented player
during his days with the Boston Red Sox. Though he was a lifetime
.307 hitter, Pesky only hit 17 career home runs, including seven at
Fenway Park. One of those home runs gave teammate Mel Parnell a win
in 1948, and the pitcher-turned-broadcaster soon dubbed the foul
pole at the end of Fenway's short right field line the "Pesky Pole"
in Pesky's honor. Pesky actually spent seven-plus seasons with the
Red Sox and counted among his close pals teammates Ted Williams,
Bobby Doerr and Dom DiMaggio. He later managed the team and remains
a part of the Red Sox organization. He was on hand for both the Red
Sox' 2004 World Series triumph and the ensuing ring presentation
ceremony in 2005, and still serves the team as a special instructor
and goodwill ambassador. Johnny Pesky has hand signed this official
Major League Baseball and added the special inscription, "We did
it!" as a tribute to Ted Williams, who didn't live to see the Sox'
World Series success. A MLB Hologram and Certificate of
Authenticity are included.
