Ol' Man Outdoors

Father and son duo Bob and John Louk started working on the design of a unique treestand in 1984. Following seven years of trial and error the family team indeed invented an improved product and, in 1990 and applied for a US Patent. As they founded the original treestand company and tooled up to manufacture their first treestands for retail, the two obviously needed a catchy name. John wanted to portray the love he had for his father so the legendary “Ol’Man” was born. That first year Bob and John built and sold 100 units from a small garage in their backyard.

In 1995, OL’MAN Treestands moved the corporate office to Hattiesburg, MS, and began to earn a respectable market share in the south. By 1999 the company built and sold over 70,000 units. By the summer of 1998 OL’MAN had expanded into 43 states and at the 1998 Shot Show in December, the company collected Field & Stream magazine’s “The Best of The Best” award for their AirElite series.
