When considering a room or setting that you would like to illuminate, a first question might be where to situate your light – floor, table, wall, ceiling? Your other decisions will involve function, style, finish and material. We have attempted to assist you in your decision making by doing a bit of curation (picking our favorites) and organizing by function (producing a much larger set of choices).
The kitchen is where everyone gathers, so plenty of light is a must. If you still read old fashioned books in bed, do you need a nice table lamp for your nightstand, or reading light to attach to the book itself? Are you looking at matching a set with floor and table lamp? Or shooting for a common look like minimalist, modern or vintage? Do you like Tiffany art glass shades, which work in just about any room in your home?
Here are a few additional suggestions: Bathroom fixtures might include beautiful modern or antique sconces. Night safety should include lighting your doorway with a bright outdoor wall lamp and setting up motion detectors. Pendants add elemental lighting in your bar, hallway, living room, and hanging lights are great over bars, pool tables and kitchen islands. Chandeliers come in the conventional traditional look, but we have some modern knock outs that can transform your dining room – plus have become quite popular in foyers. And finally, think floor lamps as a source of indirect ambient light that will warm your living room or den.
