SwingBeds™ started out in a barn outside of Oxford, MS in 2008. The first SwingBed™ I ever built was a Christmas present for my wife. She had been in an antique mall and someone had an old rusted bed frame hanging from a ceiling. She could not stop talking about it. It was very poorly built and not safe at all. I had been in the construction industry since 1990 and was a custom home builder for the last 5 years. I decided I would build her one for Christmas. I came up with the design of the SwingBeds™ Original SwingBed™ after many prototypes. It had a simple but very “old country style”. We painted it Festive Green and hung it on our back porch. Everyone that came to our house could not stop talking about it. We moved a year later and we built a large back porch to accommadate two SwingBeds™ for our new home. We had a couple of house warming party’s to reconnect with our old friends. Again, everyone would not stop talking about our SwingBeds™. I decided to create a website without my wife knowing, just to see what would happen. Within two weeks I had a several thousand dollar order going to Los Angeles. This was March of 2010. We have shipped to all 48 continental United States, Canada, and the Caribbean since then. We have moved from a 40 x 60 garage into a 15,000 s/f building in January of this year. We have sold to celebrities such as Chris Angel and have been contacted by the TV show “Shark Tank”. We have had request to ship to several countries in Europe and Australia. We are most proud of the fact we have never had an unhappy customer, nor a single order returned. Our products are custom crafted from milled, kiln dried Cypress wood so they may be passed on from one generation to the next.
