"La Route du 75 1914*1915.' Roman de guerre et d'espionage, par
Paul D'Ivoi que publie 'L'Information." General Joseph Jacques
Cesaire Joffre (1852-1931) points to the Route of 75, named after
the front line soldiers who were called '75.' Acommemorative day
for the front line soldiers was called 75 Day. The name derived
from a special gun for the war designed by the French and called
the 75 mm field gun. It was a rapidly firing gun which was
extremely accurate, and the term 75 referred to the men who manned
it.
